Perry Oakes, Alabama Chapter Member, receives 2012 SWCS President's Leadership Award
This award is being given in recognition of Oakes's exceptional support provided to the student chapters within Alabama, and more specifically, his effort in starting the Tuskegee University Student Chapter. The SWCS President's Leadership Award is given at the discretion of the SWCS president in recognition of exemplary assistance to the president in helping to carry out the goals and objectives of the Society.
2012 Alabama wins the Outstanding Chapter Award for the third year in a row
Earl Norton was present at the 67th International Conference in Ft. Worth, TX, in July to receive the award that was given in recognition of accomplishments of the Alabama Chapter during 2011 in overall programming to carry out the goals and objectives of the SWCS.
Earl Norton gave a presentation in a Sunday breakout meeting called Award Winning Chapters. He highlighted the Alabama Chapter's 30 Years of Activities 1982 - 2012. He mentioned the chapter's support of the Certified Professional Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), three student chapters (Auburn University, Alabama A&M University, and Tuskegee University), successful annual meetings, the statewide erosion and control program including handbooks and the Clear Alabama Seminars and Field Days, and various brochures and information made available to those interested in soil and water conservation.
2011 National Chapter Award
The Alabama Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) received the Outstanding Chapter Award at the 66th Annual International SWCS Conference, July 2011, in Washington, DC.
2010 National Chapter Award
Alabama is recognized as an Outstanding Chapter for 2009 for their efforts in sustaining and growing membership, developing communications, supporting students via science fairs and student chapters, and promoting developments in resource conservation in Alabama at their annual meeting.
2010 National Professional Development Award
SWCS Alabama Chapter wins the Professional Development Award, presented at an awards luncheon on July 20th during the 2010 Annual Conference.
Alabama Chapter Recognized as the Outstanding Chapter for the South Central Region!
In recognition of year 2000 activities, the Alabama Chapter received the Outstanding Chapter Award, and the Sustained Performance Award for the South Central Region. In the picture on the right is, left to right: Craig Cox, Executive Director of SWCS, Rod Goode, Alabama Chapter President and Dana Chapman, President of SWCS. Rod was presented with the awards at the National SWCS meeting in Myrtle Beach.
